Dive into your garden! What does that phrase mean to me? Well, its the place I can’t wait to be each day, if I’m not actually doing gardening, I’m thinking about gardening. Nothing beats the thrill of sowing a seed and watching it germinate and knowing that it holds within everything it needs to become a beautiful flower, or something good to eat, either for me and mine or for a passing pollinator.
My gardening background began in childhood with my allotment mad parents, who gardened organically before it was a thing and grew so much food we had to have two chest freezers to store the surplus. Later, I studied gardening with the City and Guilds and worked along side adults with a learning disability growing fruit, veg and flowers for cutting and drying. Gardening hand in hand with nature is a beautiful thing and my plant choices for my own garden are predominantly for our pollinator friends and my bird table is always busy. I’m committed to ups-cycling and reusing where ever possible and am always on the look out for a new way to reinvent rather than throw it out.
I studied theatre costume construction and design and though I decided not to run away to the theatre, as in the end my love of gardening held the greater pull, I do love to use the skills I gained. You will see on the website gallery hand stitched seasonal creations for sale and I am happy to personalise my creations for special occasions.
I also undertake commissions for seasonal door wreaths.
There is always more to learn and too that end I am involved in ongoing study with the RHS at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh.
I dive into my garden each day, I can’t wait to help you dive into yours!
